Walichu Caves, El Calafate

2.1
#3 of 6 in Historic Sites in Province of Santa Cruz
Mesmerizing paintings remain the biggest highlight of Walichu Caves, where early indigenous peoples left messages for later generations. The paintings vary between red, black, white, yellow, and ocher hues and depict ancient tribes and their way of life. Many different methods were used to create these images, including finger dragging, finger pressure, and the use of tufts of hair and hollow bones. After observing the paintings, enjoy the surrounding scenery. For Walichu Caves and beyond, use our El Calafate trip itinerary planning website to get the most from your El Calafate vacation.

  • 500 pesos per person for an audiobook q does not transmit anything and with padding to reach 40 min. The Caves are not caves and most paintings are replicas.

  • It's nice. Advisable. After a walk in 4x4 and arriving at a manor pnto of the Argentine lake is lowered to the promontory (so called by Perito Moreno and in that place there are cave paintings and after observing all this is eaten in a cave, excellent food, which is worth tasting. The Sebastian guide stands out for his professionalism and good vibes. Excellent
