Perito Moreno Glacier, Los Glaciares National Park

Marvel at the immense, ice blue cliff face of Perito Moreno Glacier, which spills out into Argentino Lake. Every so often the sound of thunder echoes all around as a slab of ice cleaves off and plunges into the water below. Explore the walkways of the national park that faces the 250 sq km (97 sq mi) glacier, providing many different viewpoints and perspectives from which to admire the ice flow, as well as the surrounding, snow-capped mountains. For a closer look, take a boat tour out to where the wall of ice towers over you. The most adventurous travelers can hike on the glacier itself. Most of the park's walkways are wheelchair accessible. Put Perito Moreno Glacier into our Los Glaciares National Park online sightseeing planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Growing glacier with excellent observing conditions. Clean and safe spaces. Enjoy nature at the highest level. Restaurant where you can have lunch. I was delighted and willing to come back.

  • Even if you go in summer, it's quite cold, a cold wet that's cloisted in the bones. It's worth staring at for minutes to see how a block of ice comes off and listen to the noise it produces. A gift for the eyes.

  • Amazing! Absolutely worth to visit. 2 tips, book the bus at 13h so you'll see less tourists and I totally recommend the boat trip, not every day you have the chance to stay 100-200 meters close to such an impressive glacier. Must see.
  • Even if you are used to see glaciers, that one might impress you by it's hugeness and the proximity you can fee for the platforms. It's also a constantly moving glacier, so contemplating it for a while you'll have the chance to see some part detaching a make their 50m fall to the water. We've be lucky enough to see a couple of condors that day, resting between two balconies. Tips : Go in the morning to have as much time as possible there. Don't take the shuttle from North-East, but rather walk on the platforms as you'll be alone and facing the glacier the whole time (you can still do the way back with the shuttle instead), and take time to observe it with your bare eyes instead of through a camera. You'll be rewarded.
