#1 of 6 in Childrens Museums in Cyprus
Observatory · Hidden Gem · Museum
Shacolas Tower is a highrise building completed in the 1990s, which is located in the old town of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. It is currently the fifth tallest building in Cyprus and third in Nicosia. It is considered a hallmark of the city's old town. The first 5 floors are H&M department stores and the 6th floor is a cafeteria offering a panoramic view of the old city of Nicosia. The 11th floor is an observatory and a museum overlooking the whole capital. There are telescopes, binoculars and a recorded feature on the history of the capital.
This museum combines a modern museum with the view of the entire city. It can be found on the 11th floor of the Shacolas Tower. The exhibition - a cooperation with the Leventis Museum of Nicosia and the Debenhams Group - shows photographs and descriptions of Old Nicosia, a multilingual taped history and binoculars.

  • Excellent views across Nicosia and able to see the big flag on the side of the mountain. Informative short film and historical timeline of events available to see. Lovely and cool too!
  • Great piece of fore thought for this building, it can give a clear picture of the city, its history and you can see the border including “no mans land”. This building helped gauge my visit and helped me gather my bearings, which was very useful for a city we’ve never visited before, there modern interactive boards and old school read them yourself info. Fully recommend and don’t forget to watch the TV show at the top.
