Evretou Dam Reviews

We went out to lunch in Steni on my way back from Polis, and out of curiosity I went to visit this Dam to see if it was as full as the local papers were stating and it was full as with all the winter ... more »
Beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere. The walk around the whole reservoir is deceptively long at 12 miles and more hilly than you'd expect. Views of the reservoir from the path are actually quite infrequent, as the paths often take you a long way from the reservoir itself. There is no sign posting and it's quite easy to take a wrong turn and find yourself at a dead end, so do take a map. Most views are of farming country, mostly wheat crops and fruit orchards in the valleys. Good footwear like running trainers or hike boots are needed. Snakes bask on the paths so beware of startling them. There is also a farmyard you must pass through on the Eastern side near the abandoned village which had a lot of intimidating dogs. Thankfully the farmer was there to settle them down on our visit. I'll do the walk around again as it was very nice, but do prepare well with the above in mind to make the most of it. Also take a lot of drinking water with you.
Beautiful view. Silent, no noise, no tourists. Must see if you travel close to this area.
