A World Heritage Site, Kato Paphos Archaeological Park features monuments from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, including some of the finest mosaics in the Eastern Mediterranean. See remnants of Roman villas and fortresses, some of them with floors made of colorful stone, representing scenes from Greek mythology. Take a walk through the arid lands, over dunes, and among ruins, and look for monuments such as Ancient Odeon--a 2nd-century theater built entirely out of limestone blocks--and Saranta Kolones, which features remnants of a Byzantine castle destroyed in a 1222 earthquake. Kato Paphos Archaeological Park Reviews
Sehr schöner Park, der sehr weitläufig ist. Fanden es fazinierend zu sehen, wie gut doch einiges erhaten war und wie man so etwas nur mit Händen gebaut hat. Admission is for adults 4.50€ per person and also justified. Attention: In summer think of water, even if there was a small house with drinks vending machines on the plant ( 0.50€ for water is top ). Can only recommend it.
A really interesting look back at history love it all. Very hot when walking round so take water with you. Will visit it a fain next time I'm back. more »
Lots of ruins to see, the mosaics are especially beautiful and intricate. There isn't much shade, so walking around the grounds can be a little challenging on hot and/or humid days.
Really good historical site to visit especially if you like your Greek (Roman) classical studies. I know it probably seems the same as any other historical areas around the world but the mosaics and the stories they tell are probably the most intact that I have seen in an outdoor setting.
