Kantara Castle (Greek: Κάστρο της Καντάρας Turkish: Kantara Kalesi) is a castle in north Cyprus. The exact date of its construction remains unknown, the most plausible theory being the Byzantine period. It combines Byzantine and Frankish architectural elements, became derelict in 1525 and was dismantled in 1560. It gave its name to the nearby Kantara monastery.

  • A bit of a hike which was hard going in the heat! It cost 7tl per person to get in if the guy is sitting in the hut. An impressive castle with breathtaking views. If you stand next to the arrow slits, the breeze coming through really cools. I would suggest taking food and lots of water so you can stay for longer.
  • Amazing place. Breathtaking view. The road up and down is exciting.
