Cathedral of St. Bartholomew (Dom St. Bartholomaus), Frankfurt

4.2
Cathedral of St. Bartholomew (Dom St. Bartholomaus), one of the finest examples of Gothic style in Germany, opened its doors in the 14th century. Built on the foundation of an even older church, the cathedral features a restored, 95 m (311 ft) tall spire with great views from the top. The spire survived a fire in 1867 and a fire during World War II that burned the interior. The building was reconstructed in the 1950s. Inside, you can see the supposed skull fragment of St. Bartholomew. The museum in the cloister houses a collection of artifacts discovered nearby. • This is a beautiful Catholic Church in the city of Frankfurt. It is also called Imperial Cathedral for its historical importance and is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew. The Gothic-style structure it looks like on the inside with a Latin cross composed of 3 aisles the same height. The building in the mid-1800 was the victim of a fire, which went serious damage to the Church, especially in the Interior, which entirely consumed. It was then rebuilt in the mid-20th century. Beautiful. Place not to be missed if you go to Frankfurt. Will definitely be returning. TO VISIT!

  • Kaiserdom Cathedral-Basilica of St. Bartholomew (Kaiserdom St. Bartholomäus) is the main Cathedral of Frankfurt am Main, with a history of 800 years, almost almost solved in Gothic style and reaches a height of 95 metres in. In the 1st century, during the era of the Roman Empire at this place was built the Chapel, later lined up his predecessors-the Palace Chapel (6th century), the Merovingians, Carolingians Palace Chapel (VIII-IX century). From the 9th century in its place stood an ancient Church of the Saviour. In the middle of the XII century cathedral began to be built, and built almost two hundred years. The Cathedral has never become a cathedral and is considered imperial (Kaiserdom) as in 1562 to 1792 years held the coronation of emperors of the Roman Empire. A modern building completely built from natural stone. Kaiserdom Cathedral burned in 1867 and was severely damaged during the second world war, but each time it was rebuilt again. The Cathedral is a wonderfully impressive interiors.
