Dialog Museum, Frankfurt

4.6
Blind guides lead you through six different settings in absolute darkness at Dialog Museum, where scents, sounds, wind, temperature, and texture alone create a fascinating experience. The project is meant to reveal the challenges and experiences faced by blind people every day. At the Taste of Darkness restaurant, you will need to rely on your taste and scent alone to distinguish which dish you are trying. In the Casino for Communication, improvisation, creativity, and teamwork are required to solve games without the use of sight. Based on the popular Dialogue in the Dark exhibit in Hamburg, this experience is sure to challenge the way you think--and see. By using our Frankfurt sightseeing planner, you can arrange your visit to Dialog Museum and other attractions in Frankfurt.

  • I couldn't image why I would waste my time here. Once inside I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive devices people use to communicate ( covers it all ) and it's impact upon civilization. It would...  more »
  • Certainly a good activity for rainy days. What displeases me is that all valuables must be out there, as well as phones, watches with luminous hands, etc. - is while understandable, but is not very vertrauenserwekend offered storage for valuables. The Museum, however, is better than the dark restaurant a lot. Sure, it's a good experience, that you can evaluate food and drinks only to their liking, however, is the quality of the gastronomy below average.

  • The museum was an amazing experience- really a must-do in Frankfurt. We will be taking future visitors here. I wish our group had been a little more serious- some of the girls we were with were laughing and yelling when they bumped into things which felt insensitive. However our tour guide was excellent and the museum was extremely well thought out. We did the 90 minute tour. The receptionist was truly one of the most unpleasant people I have come across in my life. Our first attempt at visiting was unsuccessful due to a system outage- we couldn’t book a tour and she said to come in and see, then when we showed up she was irritated, rude, and said we couldn’t get on a tour. We went again today and nicely asked why we were charged extra (we thought we booked the 60 min tour) and she was very frustrated and said she could only see what was in the computer. This was fine but she raised her voice and was just generally really rude in responding to a reasonable request. After such a great experience with the rest of the staff I can’t help but wonder how she has kept that position. Nothing but glowing feedback for the visually impaired guides.
  • An extraordinary exercise of empathy. I have an incredible admiration for this place and the immersive experience it provides. Also incredibly grateful to our guide who managed to convey the experience of being a blind person and have us re-discover the world from his perspective. I am also thankful for the chance of getting my first lesson in the Braille language.
