  • After a visit to this museum everyone has movies in any way consumed belongs in my opinion to the general education. First the history is shown by picture and movie of the first Jr to the first movies. Here one learns too much about the technology is behind it and concludes with a series of films from the period 1890-1910 this part. The Herausforderng of actors, scenes and sound equipment is shown on the second floor. Here, the exhibition closes with a 4-monitor cinema on the Fillmszenen be shown parallel to technical topics.

  • As one of several museums on the street, I had expected to drop into a couple of them in the time I had, but there was more than enough of interest here to keep me occupied for a good couple of hours....  more »

  • First floor is an exhibition about how everything evolved to the movie technology we have today. Second floor is about various movies and their themes. Some very cool requisites are there like an Alien costume and a Darth Vader helmet. Further more some sketches and story boards. The third floor currently hosts an exhibition about 2001 A space odyssey. Everything is very well setup and presented. Only real downside is that it is rather small and doesn't cover much. Nice to see but not a real must see.
  • Great exhibitions, passionately curated. A lovely café with decent pricing. But the highlight is the movie theater downstairs. I go and visit it often once a week at least. They showcase film classics, rarities as well as new movies. Carefully selected, sometimes a lecture is included right before the movie. All movies are shown in their original language, no dubbing terror.
  • Really great way to spend an afternoon when visiting Frankfurt. Although the permanent collection of the museum isn't vast, it manages to cover well enough the basic aspects of cinema, both past and present. Where the museum really shines is in their temporary exhibitions and screenings in its own cinema, which although small gives a very pleasant viewing experience. To really enjoy the museum, I suggest looking in advance at their movie schedule, to finish off the visit watching some of the best cult classics and contemporary documentaries (some of them are actually in both English and German!).
  • Excellent museum, with plenty interactive exhibits that are very fun and informative for both kids and adults. I personally love the first floor exhibit on the history of optical media for entertainment purposes, but the second floor about modern film also has some very interesting interactive activities such as editing scenes from well known films and testing a green screen. This is a great museum and definitely worth a visit.
  • It's a great museum, with a lot of original artifacts from popular movies, like "Star Wars", "A space Odyssey". At the same time there is a lot of interactive displays demonstrating the basic concepts of movie making, how to make a camera, how to cut a movie, special effects (the green screen is awesome) and costumes. Definitely worth a visit.
