Kleinmarkthalle, Frankfurt

4.5
Rebuilt after a bombing in 1944, the building that houses Kleinmarkthalle is more functional than beautiful--but the market within draws food-lovers from all over the world. Wander past the vibrantly colored stands of fruits and vegetables, past the butchers and bakeries, and try not to get just a little bit hungry. Sample some local wine, or peruse the imported delicacies from around the world. Look for the crowds that form around lunchtime, and join them in line for a taste of homemade potato salad, sausages, or grüne Soße, a local specialty made from hardboiled eggs, sour cream, and a special combination of herbs. Put Kleinmarkthalle and other Frankfurt attractions into our Frankfurt road trip site , and watch your holiday take shape.

  • It is always an experience. Browse, try, enjoy. Unfortunately we find the prices covered here and there but you can still buy goods. Fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and sausages, fish... You should it have even seen.

  • The small market is an institution in Frankfurt: quirky, alive, don't come cheap, with a charm that easily in the years. If have you seen!

  • Time-honored and visually aging Frankfurt institution, to eat a hot Beef sausage ok and to look at the variety of items offered - but nothing more, is very pushy staff and prices completely covered, no matter whether man exotic fruits or Italian salami + ham plus bread wants to buy, it is too expensive and you get the bulk of considerably lower in the specialized shop around the corner or the weekly market. Service is also mau - despite the many butcher's to buy not possible E.g. the U.S. cuts of beef, if you ask for it you will be only arrogant shrug, which goes somewhere else much better! Tip: Straight Saturday stroll through the small market hall and then - too expensive - Constable market ok wondering why there the prices of comparable quality are significantly lower - as a check point for Frankfurt sights but once.

  • I love this place. So many great sources to buy fresh produce, a huge variety of meat, fish and poultry too. The place is always crowded for a reason. If you like cheesecake, you need to buy some there too. Kuchenseppel has the best cheesecake in town! ♥️
  • This is a great place to buy produce that looks (and tastes) perfect, if you have a few more Euros to spend. The stands with world-ingredients are great, and very fair prices. The staff at the stands are generally friendly, except for one stand where they are excessively pushy. Restrooms are downstairs.
  • Nice little market where you can get baked goods, cheese, sausage, fruit and veg, coffee and flowers. My husband rated the sausage very highly. The fruit salad cups are really nice too.
  • A great indoor market to peruse, by fresh meat or vegetables, or grab a bite to eat. It’s packed with local shops and stalls selling whatever is in season. The side wall is where you find all the meat. Vegetables are gathered in the middle as well as bakeries, coffee, and cafes. The fish market is upstairs. If you’re looking for cheap, local eats, this is a good place. Many of the meat shops sell ready-to-eat wieners and bratwurst. Look for the stall with the longest line of locals. That’s a good way to tell which place is best. Be prepared, many shop owners don’t speak English and only accept cash. So bring your Euro and translator.
  • The best market in Frankfurt. Really good quality everything, sometimes a little more expensive than your average supermarket but still affordable. I like shop fresh food from here.
