St. Paul's Church (Paulskirche), Frankfurt

3.9
St. Paul's Church (Paulskirche)--the birthplace of modern German democracy--started as a Neoclassical church built between 1789 and 1833. The site of the country's first parliament gathering in 1848, it was bombed and destroyed during World War II. Donations from across the county allowed for its reconstruction. Because the assembly hall on the first floor is reserved for state functions and private events, it is best to admire this site from the outside.
