Staedel Museum, Frankfurt

4.5
A Frankfurt native founded one of Germany's premier art collections, Staedel Museum, in 1815. Its 600 paintings, 600 sculptures, and more than 100,000 prints and sketches represent nearly 700 years of art. You'll find a variety of styles, schools, and techniques. Look for works by Botticelli, Van Eyck, Rembrandt, and other famous artists. Art history buffs may reach nirvana in the museum's library, which contains more than 100,000 books from different eras. The gift shop sells an astounding 6,000 prints and books. The onsite cafe offers city skyline views. • So many good things to see in there. Picasso, Renoir, Rodin, Paul Klee, Monet... I wished I could have stayed longer than 2h in there.  more »
  • Visit the Vermeer geography scholars aim. Renoir and Monet have several points. Until the 5/2018 exhibition of Rubens, and had. Cloakroom and locker, backpack was in the room. Museum of Frankfurt's locker is the type used for 1 euro coin-operated opening and closing of the key mainstream like so (will be refunded when the unlock) is good and always keep a one euro coin.

  • Rubens exhibition was very impressive! Powerful and mighty; Saturday afternoon and not bad full - lucky.

  • Very nice museum, really worth a visit. Three main zones: old Masters, more modern and decidedly modern. I particularly liked the modern section, which is housed in a very roomy and bright underground space. Some very nice pieces in all periods represented.
  • Great collection, and easy to cover in a couple of hours. Monet, Manet, Warhol, Picasso, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Munch and much more! Great museum shop as well, as well as a cafe and restaurant. Well worth a visit if you have some time to spare in Frankfurt. The other museums nearby on museum mile look equally good.
  • A must visit in Frankfurt , the jewel of rare are master pieces. The original portrait of Martin Luther ( though it was painted after his death ) and a lot of other interesting works from the Renaissance
  • Good art museum. When I was there, the Rubens exposition was open. Worth exploring in depth, especially the Rubens one - including sculptures, inspirations, drafts, and associated works. Modern art exposition placed on lower level was also worth seeing. There is a cafe close to entrance, and a book store next to it. Museum itself is placed close to the river bank and close to popular recreation places (restaurant/bar on city bank).
  • I visited Städel for the Rubens exhibition. It was good but in overall I even more liked the permanent exhibition. I managed to observe only the 1/4 of it. So I will definitely go back and check the rest of the exhibition. Although I may go back several times because the exhibition is so extensive I can't review it in a day. It is recommended to use audio guide to get more in depth information on the paintings.
