Owned by the same family who began its construction nearly 850 years ago, Burg Eltz is one of the best-preserved castles in Germany. The ornate, fairy tale-like fortress sits atop a 70 m (230 ft) rock outcropping. It's built of imposing stone walls and topped with colorful, spire-like roofs. You can explore more than 100 different rooms and courtyards, including the family quarters still used today. Climb to the other sections of the structure to see sweeping views of the forested hills and river valleys. Check the website for special events and guided tours. Highly recommended make a tour inside her or simply walk around your yard and surrounding area and soak up the atmosphere. You can always do a one-hour trip from the Landhotel Ringelsteiner Mühle restaurant beside the river or simply Park and touring the 15 minutes that you separate from the Castle.
Wonderful castle, well worth the entrance fee. English-language tour very good, knowledgeable guide. Amazed by bedroom with completely painted walls and roof (nature-themed patterns). Nice paintings, including a Cranach (Madonna and Child). Surprising, intriguing artifacts in the treasury. Beautiful walk in the surrounding forest too. Highly recommended!
Grand and beautiful!! Right in center of a valley. 15 mins walk in the wild is worth the view. Can also be reached by road but I prefer to walk and absorb the nature and feel its existence. River passing by is like cherry on the cake. Perfect for Disney like pics ;)
Be ready for a hike if the shuttle isn’t running. Not stroller friendly so bring a carrier for young kids. Beautiful, secluded area with. Plenty of trails to explore. Good food with decent prices. And as always In Germany bring cash.
For me truly one of the coolest castles I have seen so far. Great history, great guided tour. Beautiful are to hike around the castle. A shuttle bus takes you from the parking area to the castle if you have trouble walking ( 2 Euro one ride ) walk to the castle is short but steep. First casle ever I had to walk down too :)
One of the most beautiful castles in the world - set in the middle of nowhere. Take the trail for a nice walk and don't miss the many displays they have downstairs of ancient artifacts. They also have a cafe if you want have a meal here.
