Come and take a walk around the sacred Kinomiya Shrine, a Shinto shrine nestled in an area of dense woodland. Dedicated to the Shinto god of fortune and luck, the shrine centers around a large camphor tree, believed to be more than 2000 years old. Pilgrims believe that one walk around the tree's 24 m (78 ft) round trunk will extend their life by one year, as well as aiding recovery from sickness. Pass around the sacred tree, and admire its natural majesty, which has inspired so many stories and positive beliefs. • Is this a shrine!? I was surprised that there were so many photo spots. I came there a long time ago, but I was surprised at the scenery that was completely different from the scenery of my memory, and I felt a little sorry. I guess the only thing that hasn't changed is a big rose.

  • There is a big eagle, and it is said that it will come true if it circles while making a wish around it. One request per lap. In addition, it is said that the life span is one year longer when round. Three laps. For a favor, one came true right away. The other two will be known until a few decades from now. I also bought a charm. Thank you for giving me a free gift bag.

  • Small place, finished in an hour, but worth to pay it a visit for the aged big trees and heritage. Suggest taking a train for only one stop from Atami station and walk 5 minutes. It’s not much around this spot unlike other Japanese temples having snakes or shops around.
  • Nice place to visit and pray. There is a very old tree...
