Blue Pond, Biei-cho

4.0
Rather obviously named after its deep blue color, Blue Pond originally served as part of an erosion control system essential to protecting Biei from a potential Mount Tokachidake eruption. Located next to the hot spring destination Shirogane Onsen, this site provides visitors with a scenic place to walk and take photos. It takes less than ten minutes to walk through the wooded area and arrive at this body of water. • Been here for the summer and winter View but winter can't see much except snow all over the pond. There is a nearby stream flowing at the end of the walk.  more »
  • In summer many tourists of Furano and biei area beauty so probably not but it's crowded. Sightseeing bus or also because many people outside the country.

  • If it hadn't been for the crowd, I wouldn't have known there was a pond there. It was completely covered in snow with no sign of blue whatsoever. I would recommend people to visit here during warmer seasons.
  • Nice but try not to go during winter and night time as can’t really see the pond. During the night it is due to the blue light shining on the pond. But overall a nice place to visit.
