21 Jun 2019. This is Royce Chocolate factory at Shin Chitose Airport level 3F. You can watch live the making of chocolates from the glass panels. Very hygienic place with all staff wearing gowns and mask. You can see clearly some of the process involved. There are moulds of bears etc that can used to shape the chocolates. Beside this factory, there are a few shops selling Royce chocolates. There is also a museum just across the corridor. You can also find shops selling this chocolate in the airport and everywhere else in Japan. However the authorised airport shop has the most varieties.
New Chitose Airport is a most amazing airport. It is not only somewhere you go through, but also a destination in itself. This Royce Chocolate World is one of the many things that make this wonderful experience. It is a tiny museum where you can see a brief history of chocolate, including a very nice collection of chocolate packaging and another of printed advertising. There is also a modern demo factory in production behind a huge window. Royce is a great chocolate and this little exhibition area really makes our Hokkaido trip more memorable
