more »
There are a lot of brick factories in Ebetsu city for a long time, and a lot of bricks are used in the town. The Ceramic Art Center has many exhibits on bricks, including various ways of stacking bricks and models of kilns that burn old bricks. The brick thing etc. of the world are decorated, too and it becomes study.View original -
more »
There are 500 grams of clay at 700 yen per person, I made bowls and mugs. Had descriptions from instructors about 40 minutes in the beginning, but very easy to understand and helpful. Then begin right next to us about instructor who taught in situ are unknown because the work went smoothly. Specify the color, the day is finished. Charcoal is about 1 month later. I am looking forward to completion.View original

Excellent small collection of exquisite ceramics. Extensive library and a lounge to while away the hours. Bring a bento lunch and browse. Well worth a stop for ceramics lovers.

This was a complete surprise ! I had no idea what to expect from the few information I found online (website is only in Japanese and there is not much info in general) but it's so nice ! The place is gorgeous, the permanent exhibition is top class. Absolutely mind blowing. They have some Ebetsu map in English and a brochure with some text about the exhibit, other than that, it's all Japanese (it didn't bother me since the pieces were so beautiful) The place is an hour by walk from Nopporo Station, not much around, but there are some buses during the day that go there, it's fast and cheap (I took the number 29, JR Pass works) You can easily find the time schedule at the tourist center in Sapporo and plan ahead. They have a tiny shop selling some ceramics from Ebisu, it's small but they are so beautiful and affordable. I highly recommend going, I wish I knew it was so nice and worth a full day so that I'd had have time to walk around the city.
