Ran Theatre Kyoto, Kyoto

Theater · Concert / Show
Last year, Art Complex started production on the Butoh-kan Project, aiming to increase the prospects for viewing Butoh within Japan. As a part of this undertaking, we are opening the Butoh-kan to feature ongoing Butoh performances so that Kyoto becomes “the place” to see Japanese Butoh dance. As the Butoh-kan gains a reputation, we anticipate that news of such a permanent place to see Butoh will also have an impact on incoming tourism to Kyoto.

  • The musicians are highly accomplished and charismatic; the show thoroughly enjoyable. Great drinks selection and comfortable space. Try the sake taster set or the plum wine - Umeshu.  more »

  • Great performance and artists. Enjoyed every minute of the show. Surprisingly, the hall during a show was not full, however artists delivered a lot of pleasure for my girlfriend and me by their music and interaction with the audience. Definitely recommend and hope to come again!
  • Came with my parents without any expectations and we all had a really great time. The performers are all really talented and I personally enjoyed the solo taiko performance. Using traditional Japanese instruments with a modern twist and engaging the audience in the music made for a really memorable experience. We left feeling good long after the show.
