Yaegaki Shrine, Matsue

4.4
Visit the site of Japan's first wedding, Yaegaki Shrine, a Shinto shrine popular with those looking for "En-musubi," the spiritual force that brings couples together. Dedicated to the gods of marriage and matchmaking, the shrine's grounds reveal many phallic symbols and carved wooden statues, and a pond where couples place pieces of paper in the hope that it will give them a long and fruitful marriage. An artwork depicting the enshrined Princess Inata covers a wall of the attached treasure house; painted onto Japanese Cypress, the mural has been considered one of the oldest shrine wall murals in the country. Put Yaegaki Shrine and other Matsue attractions into our Matsue trip itinerary planning website , and watch your holiday take shape.

  • It is famous as the god of the marriage, but the mural in the former main hall is absolutely recommended. You can see it in the treasure storage. You can immerse yourself in a mysterious mood. Of course, the fortune-telling and the visit in Kagamiike were steady, too. It's a little from Matsue city, but i think it's a good idea to take a local bus and take a leisurely ride. And the shrine maiden is very nice and cute.

  • It is a legendary old company that originated from the construction of a shrine by building a yaegaki around Osugi to protect the princess, who saved Princess Inada from difficulty by getting rid of the Yagi Large Snake. The couple who were connected before long is made the main festival god, and the gods of parents are enshrined in the precincts shrine. There is a pond of the mirror which is said that Princess Inada made the drink and the appearance at the time of the difficult escape in sakusa woman's forest and the interior in which there was a large cedar, and the power spot which fortune-telling a good edge by the sinking condition of the paper which put the coin is very popular among young people. Since ancient times, izumo's oldest folk song, which is attributed to the marriage, and the birthplace of Japan's oldest Japanese poem, are located in the imperial court, the priest, and the lord's revered shrine, and it is located in the famous shrine of the kingdom of God Izumo, and It seems that Yakumo also showed an interest in the pond of the mirror, and introduced the tag of the shrine to foreign countries.
