Ikema Ohashi Bridge, Miyakojima
One of the longest structures of its kind in the prefecture, Ikema Ohashi Bridge links Miyakojima with neighboring Ikema Island. Stretching 1.4 km (0.87 mi) over the blue Pacific, the two-lane bridge makes for an easy trip by car between the two islands. You can also walk or bike across the bridge to take in the sweeping ocean and coastal views at a slower pace. Keep in mind that during storms and extreme weather conditions the bridge may close for safety reasons. Ikema Ohashi Bridge Reviews
梅雨真っ只中の中、6月の訪問です。 展望台があり底からの景色は、運が良く好天だったので空の青・海の青がとても美しく感動しました。 more »It is a visit in June in the midst of the rainy season. There was an observatory, and the scenery from the bottom was lucky and was good weather, so I was impressed by the blue of the sky and the blue of the sea very beautifully.
more »If there is a bridge, it is possible to walk in the traffic to Ikema island after getting on and off the ship. It is convenient and the accompanying sightseeing can be done easily. It's a very good thing. At the shop at the top of the bridge, the old man who was resting is doing golf energetically.
Tremendous beautiful achievement of engineering. Breathtaking views, great for sunset.Along bridge there are three small spots to park a car for while.
It's a long unusual and pretty cool looking bridge! There's lay-bys on both sides near the highest point for tourist viewing and those all-too-common selfie stick pics and totally rideable on a cycle (there's cycle lanes). Fascinating to see drivers just STOP right in the road to take a photo from their driving seat, whilst simultaneously bringing traffic to an abrupt halt. Just because in Japan you can do that! Most amazingly, no one stuck in the cars behind honks their horn, including the ambulance which was stuck right behind this lady... Funnier still, she had a full car and could have asked the passenger to take it instead... #differentculture
