Colorful blossoms abound at Farm Tomita, an expansive network of flower fields that remains best known for its lavender, a traditional favorite of the island. The verdant farm, nestled in the forested foothills of the surrounding Tokachi Mountains, grows everything from poppies and baby's breath to roses, though lavender truly takes the cake here. Browse the shop after wandering to pick up a range of lavender-themed, lavender-flavored, and lavender-infused goods, like pastries and creams. • Came here during the off season (late October) so there is not much lavender or flower fields but still the grounds were nicely manicured and without the crowd you feel quiet and peaceful. The changing leaves provided dramatic color contrasts too. Overall a pleasant stroll around the farm.
  • It is one of the must visit place in Hokkaido, if you can drive just hire a car and drive from Sapporo town centre in just over 2hrs, if you can't there is also plenty of tour bus options you could choose to get you there. Their melon is just divine, very sweet as if they injected sugar (sure they don't), the fields of flowers is just amazing... It might be better if you go during spring or summer. And their ice-cream is quite yum too! Personally I like the lavender ice-cream over the melon ice-cream... But could just have been the biasing effect after tasting the super sweet melon makes me think the ice-cream is not as good.
