Yamashita Park, Yokohama

Park · Nature / Park
A peaceful public space, Yamashita Park faces Yokohama's waterfront. After the 1923 earthquake that left much of Yokohama in ruin, the city government recycled the rubble from the disaster to build this park, first opened in 1930. The space now contains a 1929 Japanese ocean liner converted into a ship museum, as well as assorted notable sculptures, including a Girl Scout statue marking the 50th anniversary of the popular youth organization. Bring a picnic and spread out on the park's grassy, landscaped lawns. • perfect park for walking. Fresh air, sea breeze, lots of colorful flowers around. You can bring your picnic kits and some ball games and just relax.  more »
  • The park is at the shore and nearby the Chinatown area. Yokohama marine tower and the doll museum is at the end of the park, a historic ship also parked there.  more »

  • Love this place...Once you enter in the park it feels like I am separated from the surrounding world. It has beautiful view, I can hear birds chirping, sound of the water waves is so soothing. I am the person who loves watching people and animals and this is the perfect place for that. You can come with your pets and kids..The place is always lively with people out for lunch in groups. So many Benches to sit and do your favorite things such as coloring, writing, reading, (I have even saw people singing loudly)...
  • Wonderful park just right next to Chinatown and the amazing Yokohama harbor. Make sure to stroll around here in the evening for mesmerizing night views. Make sure not to forget your camera.
