  • The museum deals with the cultures of Peru up to the invaders by the Europeans. At the beginning you can see very good overview tables of the cultures in front of the Incas. Mochico, Chimu etc. The Sammlug (mainly ceramics and jewellery) is very impressive. Unfortunately, the museum allows a certain overcrowding and for someone who has not booked a tour it is a bit difficult.

  • Very complete collection, a journey through the cultures of America. A compact museum, possible to visit in 2-3 hours, including the wonderful gardens.

  • Fascinating overview of Peruvian history seen through the pottery, silver & textiles produced throughout the centuries by very industrious and creative societies. I've always thought of the Incas when considering Peru, but now realize after this trip that the Incas were at the tail end of a long line of peoples; Chimu, Mochica, etc. etc.; each of which made their own contribution to what Peru is today. Still wondering who invented the "stirrup & spout" pottery design...plenty of those at this nice museum. Very interesting "erotic" pottery section...makes you realize that humans aren't very different 1,000 years on...
  • I loved this place, it has some first guides, in English and Spanish. Because I was a student, they made me a discount on the ticket. It also has some spaces to relax like gardens and free water dispensers! And inside there is a restaurant and souvenir shop. They accepted the pics with out flash.
