Site Museum and Archaeological Sanctuary of Pachacamac, Lima

4.3
Walk through the remains of an important Inca settlement that thrived for more than 1,300 years at Site Museum and Archaeological Sanctuary of Pachacamac, an archaeological site a short drive southeast of Lima. Originally dedicated to Pacha Kamaq, the Inca god believed to have created the Earth, the site remains a work in progress, with archaeological digs and restoration projects expected to continue for years. Once the restorations are completed, the ruins are expected to look significantly more impressive to visitors. Climb to the ruined settlement's centerpiece, a sun temple offering sweeping view over the sea. • One of my unforgettable visits from Peru! What an amazing place! An ancient territory of pre-Inca pilgrimage and later Inca, with preserved constructions and excavations, in addition to a modern museum and with old pieces on display. If you as I love history, this is YOUR PLACE! About the archaeological site itself, it is about 1 hours from Lima. In addition to the external space that can be traveled by van or car, it is also possible to take the guided tour, which leads to the archaeological site museum, and later in the external area. This is undoubtedly the BEST OPTION! I had a fantastic guide on this tour, called Nestor Guevara, truly passionate about his work! And besides, he knew a little Portuguese, which for us Brazilians is always very good! If you go there, seriously, see if he's available. Wonderful! I was disconcerted when I learned that the archaeological site is hardly visited by foreign tourists. It is a place of atmosphere and beautiful landscapes. Please, if you go to Lima, be sure to visit! Must!!!

  • These are the Pre Inka ruins.Pachacamac was a center of prayer and worshipping. The history of this place is very interesting. The museum is very detailed and they have interpreters and guides for the tour at a very reasonable price. There is plenty parking, clean restrooms,a nice shop and a coffee shop or a place that you can get non alcoholic drink. It is extremely hot,sun protective lotion and clothing is recommended. You will not regret to visit this place.EVEN my grandchildren were impressed and want to go back.
  • This site is so beautiful because it describes a part of our history, and our culture.
