Take a unique trip with Elevador do Bom Jesus do Monte, a funicular connecting Uptown Braga to a shrine and statue of Saint Longinus. Although a set of stairs--the Stairs of Bom Jesus--runs parallel to the track, riding the funicular feels like stepping back in time to 1882, when it was built. Its unique system of water counterbalancing involves loading water into the car at the top of the hill, weighing it down enough to descend again.
