Ironically named the "People's Palace" by the country's most notable dictator, Palace of Parliament was built for Nicolae Ceauşescu, who was killed in the revolution before the building was finished. Among marble-plated halls and conference rooms, notice the twin marble stairways, which were rebuilt three times before Ceauşescu was satisfied with their height. The highlights of the guided tour include the ethnographic display of traditional Romanian costumes, and the balcony from which Michael Jackson greeted the public. For an extra fee, you can take a tour of the basement, or climb to the roof terrace, which offers one of the best views of the city. The building also houses a museum of contemporary art. Kind of a must see when in Bucharest. A huge pretty building with an amazing boulevard leading up to it. We did not go inside, just viewed it from outside. more »
This beautiful palace is simply stunning. You buy admission tickets for a desired entry time when you are let in. The architecture is awe inspiring. Walking through the rooms you can admire the art and the grandure of the palace. You are guided through learning about the history and the current day ongoings. The tour is very informative and enjoyable. If you are in Bucharest m, this palace is a must see. I highly recommend visiting this place.
A huge building after pentagon with 1100 rooms which you need 18 hours at least to see them if you spend 5 min in each room. The marble inside in all rooms and halls is amazing. The silk curtains and carpers...worth going!
