Nami Island, Chuncheon

4.3
Set in the middle of Bukhangang River only 63 km (39 mi) from Seoul, Nami Island provides a popular escape from city life for many locals, especially after the filming of a famous Korean drama. Stroll along the famous path lined with tall metasequoias and enjoy numerous sculptures representing love. Rent an electric bike to explore the supposed gravesite of a 15th-century general, or take a golf cart tour to enjoy the natural surroundings of countless chestnut, poplar, and mulberry trees. Cool off with a motorboat or waterski rental, or jump into the swimming pool. Use our Chuncheon day trip app to arrange your visit to Nami Island and other attractions in Chuncheon.

  • An amazing experience in Korea, probably my favourite so far. Seems a bit overcrowded with stores now unfortunately, but still great. My husband said that about 10 years ago it wasn’t so polluted with...  more »

  • Place is well organized and very touristy. I went to visit last April and there were crowds everywhere. Good thing that the frequent ferry helps it all in ensuring guests coming in n out in good flow. There are plenty of shops for food and souvenirs. Restrooms are easily located. Make sure you dress well for the season and occasion.
  • This place was a blast, even though it was -14C (6.8F aka very cold) the day I visited. The island is a little over an hour drive from Seoul and is located in the middle of a river. It is only a short ferry ride from the shore - about 2-3 minutes. The crossing is very calm. I would suggest you go early. The island was heaving with people at 10am on a weekday even with the cold weather. The island is famous for its tree lined avenues which look very different depending on the time of year, but always good for a photo opportunity. A number of snow machines were running the day I visited. Some machines were being used to create hills for sledding, others just for looks and atmosphere. There are a number of souvenir stores and cafes on the island. There are a few restaurants on shore. There looks to be a number of performance stages, but none were in use the day I went as it was so cold. I think you can rent a bicycle to get around the island.
