Rent a swan or duck paddleboat and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at Bomun Lake. The lake lies at the foot of a mountain, with the ruins of an old fortress and several hills rising around it. Take a turn around the lake on a bicycle, or hit the walking and jogging tracks. For a bit more excitement, rent a motorized scooter and listen to the music playing from the speakers along the pathway. Many hotels, restaurants, and cafes overlook the lake, and several recreational and sport facilities operate on site. Bomun Lake Reviews
This is an artificial lake with, I imagine, lots to appeal in season if you like amusements, shopping and views. We were there off season mid-November and it was fairly busy even with not everything..... more »
The lake is @5km around. It’s a nice walk and you can move off to the main road on one side if you want to get a bus / taxi to your destination. I would have rated this 4 but the big downside is an... more »
Beautiful lake. There are trails you can try even during winters as it's not as cold as further north.
The pictures of the lake on the Internet doesn't really paint a complete picture of the lake. Learned from locals that the lake is only nice during certain periods of the year, particularly spring around Jan to Mar. Skip this place in summer because not only there is not much to see or do around the lake during this period, the weather is also sweltering hot, reaching almost 40° Celsius. There is a trail surrounding the lake that you can walk on to admire the view, but the beautiful bridge only works when the whole lake is filled. Cafes and other amenities dot the place too, while there are many big chains of hotels around. Some of the shops only open during the peak periods. Not as magical as what the internet portrayed during my visit here.
