Taipei Confucius Temple, Datong

4.2
Inspired by a World Heritage-listed temple in China, Taipei Confucius Temple ranks as one of the capital's most important religious sites. Marvel at the traditional architectural style of the temple, featuring upward-swooping rooftops, support pillars, and wood-paneled doors and walls. Admire the building's colorful decorations, which include dragons and other carvings along the top and edges of the roof. Afterwards, wander the complex grounds to see ceramic reliefs and decorative panels scattered throughout. You'll find a number of English-language informational plaques and displays detailing the history the temple. Plan my day in Taipei using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

  • A beautiful and quiet temple. Multimedia used for telling about calligraphy, very interesting! There are Chinese calligrapher providing blessings for free!
  • Lovely space with excellent signage full of educational content. Great use of multimedia including 3D video clips and calligraphy writing. Beautiful, peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable.
  • This is a representative Confucian Temple. If you've never been to a Chinese temple, this is a good place to see what they are all about. If you've traveled in China or other places with major Chinese temples, then there is nothing here you haven't seen before. But very clean and pleasant with minimal crowds.
  • Worth visiting if you are in Taipei as it's just a few MRT stops north on the Red line. The building stands on a rather large land and the ancient construction is so very intricate, with many halls dedicated to the various deities, if I may say so. Taiwanese honours Confucius very well indeed.
  • Ever wondered why Confucius is such a big name? This is the place to find out why. Average sized temple, nice layout and a very large amount of information about the legend himself. Plenty of English translations available, leaflets and videos that detail his life, work, achievements and legacy. If you like learning or just need an hour to kill then this is a pretty good place to pop by.
