Visit Hualian Jian Shrine to get in touch with your spiritual side and learn about colonial Taiwan's history. Originally known as Karenko Shrine, which was built in 1915, this holy place was built in 1981 following Karenko Shines's demolition. Take a peaceful stroll through the complex grounds where you will find a shrine and Japanese garden. The latter is filled with 88 statues which represent the Shikoku Pilgrimage route consisting of 88 shinto temples.
