Fulung Beach, New Taipei

Fulong Beach, also known as Fulong Bathing Beach, is located at Fulong Village, Gongliao District, New Taipei City at Northeastern Taiwan. It is the outlet of the Shuang River.HistoryThe beach was opened to the public on 22 June 1975. The resort at the beach was initially operated by Taiwan Railways Administration. It was then later transferred to the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration of Tourism Bureau.GeologyThe sands there are golden, which is rare in Taiwan. The Shuang River divides the beach into inner and outer parts. Recently the sands of the beach have been diminishing year by year, and the coastline is moving shoreward; i.e., the beach is shrinking. It is believed to be related to the staithe built for the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant of Taiwan for equipment disembarking.FacilitiesNearby is a camping site named Longmen. There is a footbridge named Rainbow Bridge (彩虹橋) linking the two parts. However, the watercourse of the river varies every year to some extent; sometimes the bridge is functional; other times it is not, because the seaside end would be in the river or in the sea.EventsSince 2000, the Hohaiyan Rock Festival (貢寮國際海洋音樂祭) has been held here for 3 to 5 days in the summer. Normally, it takes place in mid-July, but sometimes it has been delayed due to typhoon interruption or damage to the band shell facilities. Also the watercourse of the Shuang River sometimes changes shape or size, influencing the location of these temporary band shells.

  • Fulong beach is one of the best beaches in Taiwan. It's easily accessible by train from Taipei main station. The beach has yellow sand. The water is clean. You can swim. There are lifeguards, but they...  more »
  • The waters of the Fulong sea bath are clear, with a 2-hour drive to the beach, the Fu Lung bath is a recommended place, especially if the sun is not too strong in the autumn, the temperature of the sea is not too low, it is suitable for the whole family to play water.

  • Perfect place actually...i went there but i never do swimming 😂 just been there to take pictures and for relaxation...a peaceful place and it seem like paradise for me 😍
  • The view is awesome and water is also clean. There are occasional beach concerts during summers. But the music bands play chinese music. During the concerts the drinks are almost free or will cost around 5 NTD per drink. A good place to enjoy sea food coupled with pleasant music. Do check out the train timings before visiting this place. Generally few trains available back to Taipei.
  • Awesome. Will give 5 star if they lengthen the opening hours until 7 pm or later
  • Good place. Every year, an International sand art competition is held during month of June-July. Its a treat to watch artists from diffefent parts of world coming here and showcasing their art. You can purchase a one day bus pass and visit places Ruifeng as the last stop. Caution: July is a month with high temperatures and humidity. Dont forget to carry your sunscreen lotion. You can buy Neutrogen sunscreen if you are looking for a good one
  • It is a beautiful beach with the white sand. The beach looks like amazing when you saw it from above, it looks like a human tongue 😄
