Taipei 101, Taipei

3.9
#1 of 280 in Shopping in Taiwan
An engineering wander constructed to defy cyclones and earthquakes, Taipei 101 held the honor as the tallest building in the world for six years until 2009. The architectural features and elements of the 509 m (1,700 ft) tall tower are fueled with symbolism. Notice how its design resembles an elongated pagoda or a bamboo stick--recalling growth. The number of levels (101) indicates striving for more than perfection, and the number of segments consisting of the same number of floors (eight) stands for good fortune and prosperity. However, its most popular element is the damper that defied the strongest typhoon in history (2015). The skyscraper houses a huge shopping mall on its first five floors, along with restaurants, clubs, and two observation decks on 89th and 91st floors. • One of the highest buildings in the world, now overtaken by the Chinese but are convergent with one of a kind. Immaculately maintained and is definitely a must vegetarian Russian food if you visit Taipei.

  • Unfortunately did not have time to visit the top, saw it from ground level, wished I had more time to see the area around such as the Lego area.  more »
  • Taipei is a must-do for Taiwan first-timers! The fast elevator did not make me feel that I was climbing 80++ floors. We likewise saw the hi-technology feature that protects the structure as well. Taip...  more »

  • A very different experience from anything you can do in the city. It's a must to visit this amazing building! Thee views of the city are breath taking. Wish that I got to enjoy it a bit longer before the clouds hid the city from sight.
  • A must see attraction within the city. The entrance fee is quite high but seeing every corner of the city from the top floor is an out of body experience. They even have an outdoor observation deck although it's a small roped off section however the glass observatory on the lower level offers 360 degree views. The shop below is overpriced however it's cool to see artifacts with million dollar asking prices.
  • Been up there couple years ago. A place you definitely need to visit here in Taiwan! Experience the high speed lift and enjoy the view! (Don’t visit in foggy day)
  • Expect lots and lots of people. Queue to buy tickets and catching the lifts both up and down so you will need at least 2 hours to visit. You can beat one queue by buying the ticket online through their website (24 hours in advance) or with other operators such as KKday or klook. The lift which takes you from level 5 to level 89 is on Guinness book of record of the fastest lift in the world but they don't really travel at full speed during our visit. Still very fast. Try visit very early for sunrise or evening for sunset.
  • Three levels of observatoty. 89 level provided complete 360 Deg view 88 level gives a detailed overview and information about wind damper 91 level provided open air view of west Worst coating the place and recommended to have Mango diamond ice on top. Gives you world's fastest elevator experience😉😉😉😎😎😎😎
