Taipei Confucius Temple, Taipei

4.2
Inspired by a World Heritage-listed temple in China, Taipei Confucius Temple ranks as one of the capital's most important religious sites. Marvel at the traditional architectural style of the temple, featuring upward-swooping rooftops, support pillars, and wood-paneled doors and walls. Admire the building's colorful decorations, which include dragons and other carvings along the top and edges of the roof. Afterwards, wander the complex grounds to see ceramic reliefs and decorative panels scattered throughout. You'll find a number of English-language informational plaques and displays detailing the history the temple. Plan my day in Taipei using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

  • Of all of the temples I’ve visited both here in Taiwan as well as around the world, this one ranks at the top of my list. Why? Because not only does the visitor get to immerse themselves in the teachi...  more »
  • In God of study, about 10 minutes walk from MRT freshwater Xinyi line Grand station, Confucius is enshrined. Daeseongjeon layed in the mausoleum is located toward the feet and had carved pillars and roof decorations, etc. Yushima Temple worship the same Confucian like Tokyo than China and I think I'm still Taiwan seems to be.

  • Unfortunately, when I saw this temple it was under renovations so it was not the best one that I visited. I think it will be a lot better once this is completed. No where near trains so a taxi is the ...  more »

  • Worth visiting if you are in Taipei as it's just a few MRT stops north on the Red line. The building stands on a rather large land and the ancient construction is so very intricate, with many halls dedicated to the various deities, if I may say so. Taiwanese honours Confucius very well indeed.
  • A quiet and scenic temple away from the urban hustle. Also there is a calligrapher who writes beautiful and complimentary calligraphic cards.
  • Ever wondered why Confucius is such a big name? This is the place to find out why. Average sized temple, nice layout and a very large amount of information about the legend himself. Plenty of English translations available, leaflets and videos that detail his life, work, achievements and legacy. If you like learning or just need an hour to kill then this is a pretty good place to pop by.
  • Really nice and interesting place. Not too crowded on week days.
  • Relaxing, simple yet colorful. Definitely worth a look esp if in area for Dalong night market afterwards
