Longshan Temple, Wanhua

4.3
Known by locals as a "meeting place of the gods," Longshan Temple serves as one of the oldest and most famous temples in Taiwan. Han settlers from Fujian established the temple in 1738, dedicating it to Kuan-in, the Mother of Mercy, which is represented by a statue in the main hall. This statue was left intact after the main hall was destroyed in an air-raid near the end of World War II. Over the years, the temple suffered damage from cyclones, earthquakes, and fires, but has been restored repeatedly. See numerous Taoist deities in the back hall testifying to the tolerant nature of the Chinese religions. The name of the temple translates to "Dragon Mountain," which explains the colorful dragons on the roof and the intricately carved twirling dragons on the bronze pillars at the entrance. A visit to Longshan Temple represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Taipei journey planning site to plot your vacation.

  • There are many people. I note around never security situation is not good. Inside the temple is an image more locals than tourists. I was thinking your homework well in advance and do you want to ask what's meaningful.

  • I went to pray in a family of four. Was a charm in the smoke of the incense and the beautiful chanting voices rising, a mysterious and profound sense of historical at this point. Children's temple as seen in TV dramas and movies and was happy. Fortune also intimidated everyone safely. Also, imitating the local children, had been praying. The contents of the fortune was English. Booklet on the shelf and was written in numerical order. Another one was a Taiwan Edition. Does anyone know English because I didn't see any Japan term, please see. Also rich in charm, I don't know. Look really cute from the charm of hope and a gift for pleasing.

  • I have a lot of dragon tattoo. For the Taiwan people's faith. Keep taking pictures in the tourist feel intimidated. Asakusa, Japan in visitors? Around of wonder for people on shopping also ages.

  • This is a magical place - definitely my favourite temple in Taipei. It is an incredibly peaceful and beautiful space. If you have to choose one temple to visit while you are in Taipei, I would strongly recommend going to Longshan Temple. Regardless of the time or day of the week, it is one of the most incredible spots in Taipei
  • Can be very hot but very beautiful Temple. The bathrooms have ac with both squat and sitting toilets. The toilet paper is outside at entrance and you need to grab before you enter the bathroom. There is one free incense per adult. Crowded inside and outside in front of Temple. Station exit very close to Temple. Lovely Temple.
  • This beautiful historical temple is very well-preserved. The inside is clean, visitors are respectful of it being a place of worship, and most importantly the bathroom stalls are super clean!! You can also refill your water bottle here.
  • Beautiful temple with lots of history. Amazing to see the past right next to the present and pray for the future while you're here. Loved it.
  • Even though the place is usually packed with people, it's still pretty calm. It's a nice experience for outsiders to learn more about Buddhist culture. But please be respectful, stay at the sidelines and try not be intrusive.
