Hailed as Asia's largest zoo, Taipei Zoo holds the title as the continent's leader in research, education, and conservation of animal and plant life. Opened in 1914, the property was originally owned by a Japanese zoologist. The family-friendly zoo shelters animals from tropical rainforests, deserts, and temperate zones from all over Asia, Africa, and Australia. You can explore various habitat exhibits, such as the reptile house, insectarium, aviary, and a panda shelter. Taipei Zoo reviews

Large zoo that also doubles as a botanical garden-- so many gorgeous plants. We've had the best luck going early in the morning on weekdays. It's almost empty except for school groups which makes it..... more »

The zoo was easy to access via rail. It was surprisingly a very large site with amazing large enclosures for the animals. We recommend getting the bus to the top of the zoo & walk back downhill. It’s.... more »

I beamed as I jumped out of the car and ran to the front entrance of Taipei Zoo. Why was I so excited about going to a zoo? Taipei Zoo is one of the best zoos on earth, so I’m always excited when I go there. To go to Taipei Zoo is a hundred percent worth your time, for the experience is very educational, the entry ticket price is reasonably cheap, and the environment is very comfortable. Taipei Zoo lets you have a very educational experience. At every animal exhibit, there are employees that teach you facts about that animal. There is also a summer camp that you can sign up for online, and you can learn what it is like to be a zookeeper and you can even feed rhinos and giraffes by hand! The price is also cheap. The entry ticket price is only 60NT, and it is only 30NT for students. While the experience and the price are both great, the environment is really comfortable, for both us humans and the animals. The streets are really clean, and there are both outdoor and indoor areas for us to go to. The animals’ exhibits are really clean, and most importantly, their exhibits have a similar habitat as their species would have in the wild, allowing the animals to be healthy and happy. The experience is educational, the price is cheap, and the environment is clean, so you should go to Taipei Zoo! This zoo is the best!

Great zoo, alot of animals and beautiful natural surroundings. Full day a must as you may need to sit and rest often. We covered all areas in 5hrs doable. Cool day makes it more enjoyable. Brown bear was the only one we didn't see. Small area of hippopotamus tanks with fish, snapping turtles also has fish, but not a dedicated area for aquarium. Highly recommend for weekdays, still be tones of school children on excursions. But less crowded. Really enjoyed our day.
