Kick off your visit on the 27th (Thu): step into the grandiose world of Matsumoto Castle, admire the masterpieces at Matsumoto City Museum of Art, then examine the collection at Matsumoto Folkcraft Museum (Matsumoto Mingei-kan), then admire the masterpieces at Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, and finally relax in the rural setting at Daio Wasabi Farm.

Do a combination of taxi and train from Yamanouchi-machi to Kanazawa in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or drive. In February in Kanazawa, expect temperatures between 7°C during the day and 0°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Sun) early enough to go by car to Takayama.

Start off your visit on the 2nd (Mon): contemplate the long history of Takayama Jinya, then explore the galleries of Hida Minzoka Mura Folk Village (Hida no Sato), then take an in-depth tour of Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen, and finally get to know the fascinating history of The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses. On the 3rd (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stroll through Ryokufu Resort Hida Nagareha, then don't miss a visit to Hida Furukawa Old Town, and then take a stroll through Sanmachi Suji.
