Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Take a break from the city and head to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Port Arthur Historic Site and Battery Point Sculpture Trail are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Next up on the itinerary: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington, steep yourself in history at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, pause for some photo ops at Cenotaph, and pause for some serene contemplation at St. John's Presbyterian Church.

Perth to Hobart is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. The time zone changes from Australian Western Standard Time to Australian Eastern Standard Time (Tasmania), which is usually a 2 hour difference. In April, Hobart is a bit cooler than Perth - with highs of 21°C and lows of 9°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Coles Bay.

Ulverstone is a town on the northern coast of Tasmania, Australia on the mouth of the Leven River, on Bass Strait. Take a break from the city and head to Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake Circuit. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Ulverstone: Gunns Plains Caves (in Gunns Plains), Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park (Devils @ Cradle & Marion's Lookout Walk) and Hellyer Gorge (in Parrawe).
