A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Get some cultural insight at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse and Ninto zeiseki. Your inner history buff will appreciate Harimizu Utaki and Miyako Shrine. There's lots more to do: get outside with Sunayama Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Painagama Beach, take in the views from Irabu Ohashi, and stroll the grounds of Nakasone Toyumya Tomb.
