A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): make a trip to Yahazu Cape, then discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and then kick back and relax at Tashiro Beach. On the 23rd (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: make a trip to Kigensugi Cedar and then take in the awesome beauty at Tachudake.

You can do a combination of flight and taxi from Kita to Yakushima-cho in 4.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train, ferry, and taxi; or do a combination of train, bus, ferry, and taxi. Traveling from Kita in April, expect somewhat warmer with lows of 17°C in Yakushima-cho. On the 23rd (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Chuo.
