The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Gion and Kinkaku-ji. Nijo Castle and Ryoanji Temple will appeal to history buffs. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, admire the natural beauty at Nanzen-ji Temple, steep yourself in history at Sanjusangendo Temple, and make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

Singapore, Singapore to Kyoto is an approximately 11-hour combination of flight and train. The time zone changes from Singapore Time (SGT) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Prepare for cooler weather when traveling from Singapore in April: high temperatures in Kyoto hover around 22°C and lows are around 11°C. Nara is very close to Kyoto. Traveling from Kyoto in April, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit warmer in Nara, with lows of 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Ikuno.
