Kyrenia ©
Famous for its natural port and Byzantine castle, Kyrenia is not only a lovely old Venetian town, but also the most visited tourist destination in Northern Cyprus.
Popular historic sites such as Bellapais Monastery and Saint Hilarion Castle are in your itinerary. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at St Andrew's Church and Church of Antiphonitis. There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Mavi kosk, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chysopolitissa church, get interesting insight from Vela Yachting, and explore the activities along Kyrenia Harbour.

To see more things to do, ratings, maps, and more tourist information, you can read our Kyrenia trip maker website.

Brisbane, Australia to Kyrenia is an approximately 30-hour combination of flight and car. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 8 hours traveling from Brisbane to Kyrenia. Traveling from Brisbane in May, expect nights in Kyrenia to be about the same, around °C, while days are somewhat warmer, around °C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Famagusta.

Famagusta ©
Just east of the capital sits Famagusta, an ancient port city with archaeological attractions, as well as an abandoned quarter that is popular among tourists as a symbol of the conflict between Turks and Greeks.
Sea Gate and Monastery of Apostolos Varnavas are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Salamis Ancient City and Famagusta City Walls. Next up on the itinerary: mingle with the ghosts of the past at Ghost Town Varosha, get engrossed in the history at NamIk Kemal ZindanI ve Muzesi, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, and pause for some serene contemplation at St Barnabas Monastery and Icon Museum.

For other places to visit, more things to do, where to stay, and other tourist information, use the Famagusta trip app.

Drive from Kyrenia to Famagusta in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In May, daily temperatures in Famagusta can reach °C, while at night they dip to °C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 17th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
