Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Thu): meet the residents at Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe, explore the striking landscape at Jigokudani, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Yuzawa Shrine, and finally soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers. Keep things going the next day: take an in-depth tour of Memorial Pavilion of Hakucho Huge Bridge and then enjoy the sea views from Cape Chikyu.

Traveling by combination of train, bus, flight, and taxi from Noboribetsu to Shari-cho takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and flight. On the 31st (Wed), browse the eclectic array of goods at Hakodate Morning Market, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Hakodate, then take some stellar pictures from Goryokaku Tower, and finally admire the landmark architecture of Goryokaku Park. On your second day here, stop by Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, then make a trip to Hachimanzaka, then steep yourself in history at The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, and finally wander the streets of Motomachi.

For shopping fun, head to Tanukikoji Shopping Street or Otaru Orgel Museum Main Building. Susukino and Hokkaido Jingu are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Sapporo to go to Otaru and see Otaru Canal, which is approximately 50 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: steep yourself in history at Clock Tower (Tokei-dai), ponder the world of politics at Former Hokkaido Government Office Building, take in panoramic vistas at Sapporo TV Tower, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Odori Park.

Getting from Hakodate to Sapporo by combination of shuttle and flight takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: fly; or drive. When traveling from Hakodate in November, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Sapporo: temperatures range from 6°C by day to 3°C at night.
