Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Kids will enjoy Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings and Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Step out of Tokyo to go to Maihama and see Tokyo DisneySea, which is approximately 30 minutes away. There's lots more to do: make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, explore the world behind art at Tokyo National Museum, have some family-friendly fun at Owl cafe Akiba Fukurou, and take a stroll through Odaiba.

Gold Coast, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 13-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. Traveling from Gold Coast to Tokyo, you'll gain 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Plan for much colder temperatures traveling from Gold Coast in January, with highs in Tokyo at 11°C and lows at 1°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Wed) so you can travel to Osaka.

Start off your visit on the 27th (Mon): explore the world behind art at The Hakone Open-Air Museum, get engrossed in the history at Hakone Shrine Homotsuden, steep yourself in history at Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu, explore the activities along Lake Ashi (Ashinoko), then get great views at Hakone Ropeway, and finally don't miss a visit to Owaku-dani Valley. Here are some ideas for day two: explore the world behind art at Narukawa Art Museum and then make a splash at Hakone Kowakien Yunessun.

Traveling by train from Hiroshima to Hakone-machi takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. When traveling from Hiroshima in January, plan for slightly colder days in Hakone-machi, with highs around 5°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 3°C.
