One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Visiting Cheonggyecheon Stream and Bukhansan National Park will get you outdoors. You'll explore and learn at Gyeongbokgung Palace and National Museum of Korea. There's lots more to do: shop like a local with Myeongdong Shopping Street, learn about all things military at The War Memorial of Korea, get engrossed in the history at The National Folk Museum of Korea, and get great views at N Seoul Tower.

Washington DC, USA to Seoul is an approximately 18-hour combination of subway, bus, and flight. You can also fly; or do a combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 14 hours traveling from Washington DC to Seoul. In July in Seoul, expect temperatures between 85°F during the day and 74°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Sat) early enough to travel to Gyeongju.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Sun): identify plant and animal life at Gyeongju Bird Park, steep yourself in history at Bulguksa Temple, then see the interesting displays at Gyeongju National Museum, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Anapji Pond.

You can fly from Seoul to Gyeongju in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train; or drive. In July, plan for daily highs up to 87°F, and evening lows to 73°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Sun) early enough to drive to Busan.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
On the 8th (Mon), enjoy the sand and surf at Gwangalli Beach, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Haeundae Beach, then kick back and relax at Songjeong Beach, and finally get a taste of the local shopping with Shinsegae Dept. Store Centum City. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 9th (Tue): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Hwangnyeongsan Mountain, browse the eclectic array of goods at Jagalchi Market, and then take a stroll through Gamcheon Culture Village.

Traveling by car from Gyeongju to Busan takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 84°F in July, and nighttime lows around 73°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) early enough to travel to Jeju.

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO.
Visiting Geomunoreum and Halla Mountain will get you outdoors. Hallim Park and Jeju Folk Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Step out of Jeju with an excursion to Seongsan Ilchulbong in Seogwipo--about 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Hamdeok Beach, take an in-depth tour of Greek Mythology Museum, tour the pleasant surroundings at Iho Tewoo Beach, and see the interesting displays at Jeju National Museum.
