A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Royce' Chocolate World and Oyunumagawa Natural Footbath. Escape the urban bustle at Shinsennuma and Jigokudani. Change things up with a short trip to Otaru Canal in Otaru (about 46 minutes away). There's more to do: get into the urban bustle at Sapporo Underground Shopping Centre Aurora Town and ponder the world of politics at Former Hokkaido Government Office Building.

Start off your visit on the 18th (Mon): look for gifts at Ryuhyo Glass Museum, take some stellar pictures from Abashiri Coast, thenexamine the collection at Higashimokoto Nyurakukan, and finally get engrossed in the history at Pierson Memorial Museum. On the next day, get engrossed in the history at Moyoro Kaizuka-kan, take an in-depth tour of Hokkaido Museum of Northern Peoples, examine the collection at Okhotsk Ryu-hyo Museum, thenget engrossed in the history at Abashiri Historical Museum, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Abashiri Shrine.
