Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at TOKYO Samurai Kembu and Japan Sword. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum and Tokyo Horse Racetrack. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tokyo: Yokohama (Kishamichi Promenade & Kirin Beer Yokohama Factory), Ibaraki Nature Museum (in Bando) and Kinchakuda Manjushage Park (in Hidaka). The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Explore hidden gems such as Daitoku-ji Temple and Miho Museum. Do your shopping at Ippodo Tea Kyoto and Kyoto Kimono Rental Sakura. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Tsukiyominomiya (in Ise), Ishiyamadera Temple (in Otsu) and Kayabuki-no-sato Kitamura (in Nantan). Step off the beaten path and head to Omiwa Shrine and Walking tours. Do some cultural sightseeing at Asuka-dera Temple and Koyasan Reihokan Museum. Explore Osaka's surroundings by going to Nara (Yoshikien, Harushika Brewery, &more), Muroji Temple (in Uda) and Koya-cho (Koyasan Choishi Michi & Koyasan Daishi Kyokai).
