Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Explore hidden gems such as Tokyo National Museum The Heiseikan and Hozomon. Head to TOKYO Samurai Kembu and Japan Swordfor plenty of shopping. Explore Tokyo's surroundings by going to Kirin Beer Yokohama Factory (in Tsurumi), Kishamichi Promenade (in Yokohama) and Ibaraki Nature Museum (in Bando). There's lots more to do: admire the masterpieces at 21 21 DESIGN SIGHT, try your luck at Tokyo Horse Racetrack, walk around Kitanomaru Park, and don't miss a visit to Kinchakuda Manjushage Park.

Do your shopping at Kyoto Kimono Rental Sakura and Ippodo Tea Kyoto. Explore hidden gems such as Kayabuki-no-sato Kitamura and Ishiyamadera Temple. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Obakusan Manpuku - ji Temple (in Uji), Miho Museum (in Koka) and Tsukiyominomiya (in Ise). The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Jojakkoji Temple, take in nature's colorful creations at Daitoku-ji Temple, let your taste buds guide you at a local gastronomic tour, and wander the streets of Shinbashi Dori.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. October in Kyoto sees daily highs of 27°C and lows of 18°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Thu) early enough to travel to Shirakawa-mura.
