Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Get some historical perspective at Senso-ji Temple and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Edo-Tokyo Museum and Tokyo National Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Yokohama Chinatown (in Yokohama), The Hakone Open-Air Museum (in Hakone-machi) and Kamakura (Kannon Museum, Hase-dera Temple, &more). Next up on the itinerary: take a stroll through Odaiba District, visit Akihabara, admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, and admire the masterpieces at Ghibli Museum Mitaka.

If you are flying in from Japan, the closest major aiports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Ibaraki Airport / JASDF Hyakuri Air Base. In December, daily temperatures in Tokyo can reach 14°C, while at night they dip to 4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Fri) to allow enough time to travel to Seoul.

One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Gyeongbokgung Palace and National Museum of Korea. Popular historic sites such as Cheonggyecheon Stream and Changdeokgung Palace are in your itinerary. When in Seoul, make a side trip to see Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, approximately Suwon away. Getting from Tokyo to Seoul by flight takes about 6.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train and ferry. In January, Seoul is a bit cooler than Tokyo - with highs of 1°C and lows of -7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Tue) so you can travel to Osaka.
