Calgary, Canada to Tokyo is an approximately 15-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 16 hours traveling from Calgary to Tokyo. When traveling from Calgary in May, plan for a bit warmer days and much warmer nights in Tokyo: temperatures range from 28°C by day to 19°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Takayama.
