Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Tokyo National Museum and Senso-ji Temple. For shopping fun, head to Ginza or Takeshita Street. The adventure continues: wander the streets of Odaiba District, get a taste of the local shopping with Omotesando, head outdoors with Kimono Me, and get a sense of history and politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings.

London, UK to Tokyo is an approximately 15- hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly; or do a combination of train and flight. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Sanjusangendo Temple. Get a sense of the local culture at Kinkaku-ji and Arashiyama. Step out of Kyoto to go to Nara and see Todai-ji Temple, which is approximately 1 hour away. Next up on the itinerary: explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, take in the spiritual surroundings of Ginkakuji Temple, get outside with Kyoto Isshu Trail, Higahiyama Fuahimi Inari Course, and steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. In May, daily temperatures in Kyoto can reach 29°C, while at night they dip to 17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Mon) early enough to catch the train to Osaka.
