Kyoto

— 14 nights
The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Nigatsu-do Temple and Sanzen-in Temple. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Horyu-ji Temple (in Ikaruga-cho), Suzuka Circuit (in Suzuka) and Osaka (Food Tours, Umeda Sky Building, &more). There's lots more to do: explore the activities along Amanohashidate, admire the natural beauty at Nanzen-ji Temple, examine the collection at Kyoto Railway Museum, and make a trip to Sannenzaka Ninenzaka.

To see more things to do, reviews, photos, and other tourist information, you can read our Kyoto trip planner.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiports are Osaka International Airport, Kansai International Airport and Chubu Centrair International Airport. In September in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 33°C during the day and 23°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Sun) so you can travel back home.
